A Winged Victory for the Sullen is the collaboration of talented contemporary composers Californian pianist Dustin O’Halloran and Stars of the Lid’s Adam Wiltzie. We’re excited to have them perform at Erased Tapes Records 5th Anniversary Night co-presented by Drowned in Sound, to be held at this year’s festival.
The duo occupied various European studio locations to create cinematically brooding piano arrangements accompanied by flourishing strings courtesy of violinist Peter Broderick and Icelandic cellist Hildur Guðnadóttir. The beautiful track streaming here is “Steep Hills of Vicodin Tears”, one of the highlights from their self-titled debut, showcasing the pair’s ability to produce rich melodies that are elegant as well as haunting.
